Introduction to the Bay Area NSF I-Corps

Welcome to the Bay Area NSF Innovation Corps Node. NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) is a public–private partnership to help transform scientific and engineering discoveries into useful products by fostering startups and providing entrepreneurship education. I-Corps activities in the San Francisco Bay Area are supported by a 3-year grant from the National Science Foundation shared by UC Berkeley, the University of California San Francisco and the Stanford Technology Ventures Program. I-Corps provides training, mentoring and other resources to early-stage science and technology-based startups and is particularly focused on advancing the work of academic and laboratory researchers toward commercialization. More information on the national program including videos from teams that have been through the program can be found here.

Our entrepreneurship experts and their mentor network will be educating nearly 100 early-stage startup teams per year in Steve Blank’s Lean LaunchPad framework. Teams will search for a scalable business model for their technology through the Customer Discovery process which includes meeting with 100 customers throughout the course of the program.

Please explore the website for more information on how to apply for the training and other program offerings.
