Move over Elon, NSF I-Corps and Haas alum Saharnaz Safari’s Loonify Space was one of the hottest companies @ last week’s YC W19 Demo Day.
TechCrunch writes: “A bespoke launch system meant specifically for carrying small satellites into orbit. A balloon carries rocket to 35km and launches it mid-air. They have Letters of Intent for 155 satellite launches, worth a total of roughly $77 million. They intend to have their first launch on May 9th.” 💰💰
BOOM! #FemaleFounderFriday 💪💪
Saharnaz was a top entrepreneur during her time @ Haas, also co-founding Clima, with her current co-founder Sohrab Haghighat. Clima was designed to “make it rain” using drones for cloud seeding and won one of the first Trione Student Venture Fund awards as well as seed funding from Foundation Capital. Unfortunately, regulations on drones did not keep pace and the co-founders moved on…to a much better space. 🚀🚀
