Happy #FemaleFounderFriday!
Today we celebrate two National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps founders who have just received Phase 1 SBIR grants ($225k). SBIR grants (aka America’s Seed Fund) provide up to $1.5M in non-dilutive, equity-free funding for STEM innovations.
Amy Li (Concha Labs) and Maria Artunduaga (Respira Labs) finished the SBIR I-Corps bootcamp last week and are pictured here with mentor/instructor Errol Arkilic. 💰💰
Concha Labs focuses on hearing loss and is an alum of our UCSF I-Corps course as well as a Berkeley SkyDeck portfolio company and a newly minted Rosenman Innovator. 👍
Respira Labs is developing a solution for COPD and was a standout in National I-Corps and UC LAUNCH. They also won the UC Davis Big Bang! Competition & the Hardware For Good category of UC Berkeley’s Big Ideas Contest. Maria is an MD and proud alum of the joint UCSF-UCB Masters of Translational Medicine program. 💪
