Haas alum Steve Markowitz returns to mentor UC Berkeley nationals team

Steve Markowitz, MBA 96 recently served as the Industry Mentor for
National Science Foundation I-Corps team Cerberus. Basem Al-Shayeb, a recently awarded PhD student from Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna's lab, led the team through a 7-week customer discovery process for their miniature RNA-guided enzymes that can efficiently edit DNA.

"The NSF I-Corps program helped Cerberus hone its offering by testing and validating market need. As the team's Industry Mentor, I was impressed with their ability to switch the mindset from science to commercialization. Exciting because this is next-generation gene editing technology that holds the promise of saving lives."
