GEM Fellows convene at UC Berkeley to explore entrepreneurship
Hosted at UC Berkeley, the National GEM Consortium i4 Convention gathered over 40 GEM Fellows from institutions across the nation to learn more about entrepreneurial opportunities such as NSF I-Corps.
Star National NSF I-Corps Entrepreneurial Lead alumni Stephanie Taboada spoke about her life changing experience as a doctoral student going through NSF I-Corps, and Brennon Marcano, Talmesha Richards, and Latane Brackett of National GEM Consortium leadership all shared about the incredible impact the customer discovery process can have on a student founder.
Bay Area I-Corps and the GEM Consortium also announced a collaborative GEM Fellow + I-Corps course. One of the teams in the course, a spinout from UC Merced led by GEM Fellow Tyrome Sweet and Jonathan Anzules, has already been accepted into the national NSF I-Corps program.
Tyrome shared: “The experience was amazing. Both Jonathan and I have gotten a better understanding of our customer segment because of the course. We were accepted into the National Program and we’re looking to do summer cohort 1 at Berkeley!!!!”
